Done Deal: Brandon Hyde Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Outfielder

**Orioles Claim Former Marlins Outfielder Forrest Wall**

The Baltimore Orioles have claimed outfielder Forrest Wall, previously with the Miami Marlins, off waivers and have designated veteran reliever Dillon Tate for assignment. Tate had been a reliable reliever for the Orioles in 2022, but his time in the majors has been limited since being placed on the injured list. The Marlins designated Wall for assignment on August 26th, and the Orioles decided to add him to their roster, valuing his speed as a significant asset. Wall, who also spent time with the Atlanta Braves, brings speed to the Orioles’ lineup.

**What Wall Brings to the Orioles**

Currently in second place in the AL East, just one game behind the New York Yankees, the Orioles are bolstering their roster with Wall, a left-handed batter known for his exceptional speed, ranking in the 93rd percentile for sprint speed. The 28-year-old, a former first-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2014, has shown impressive stats in Triple-A, including 16 stolen bases and a .380 on-base percentage. The Orioles see Wall’s speed as a valuable asset, particularly with Heston Kjerstad still recovering from a concussion.

The Orioles have optioned Wall to Triple-A Norfolk, where he is currently the only healthy outfielder. His speed makes him a great option as a pinch runner in critical situations and a potential weapon against right-handed pitchers. Wall also has experience playing second base, providing the Orioles with versatility in both the infield and outfield.
