Good News: Just In Kenny Atkinson Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Superstar

**Cavs Sign 2022 NBA Draft Pick to Two-Way Deal**

The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached a two-way contract agreement with Luke Travers, their second-round pick from the 2022 NBA Draft, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Travers, an Australian rookie who previously played for Melbourne United in the National Basketball League (NBL), will divide his time between the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate, and the main Cavaliers roster. This move comes as the Cavs aim to bounce back from their Eastern Conference semifinal loss to the Boston Celtics, the eventual NBA champions.

Wojnarowski shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Australian guard Luke Travers has agreed on a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent Daniel Moldovan tells ESPN. Travers was the 56th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and had been playing with Melbourne of the NBL.”

Following the 2022 NBA Draft, Travers had a modest showing with the Cavs’ summer league team before heading back to Australia for the 2022-23 season. He returned for the Cavs’ 2023 summer league roster, where he averaged 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks over five games, contributing to their summer league championship win. In his third summer with the team, he posted averages of 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals across four games.

**Donovan Mitchell’s Contract Sets Offseason Agenda for the Cavs**

The Cavaliers’ offseason was shaped by Donovan Mitchell’s three-year, $150.3 million contract extension. This move preceded other significant decisions, including firing head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and bringing in Kenny Atkinson. The Cavs also re-signed center Jarrett Allen on a three-year, $90.7 million contract.

With all three two-way roster spots filled, there is a strong possibility that one of the recent signees could secure a spot in Coach Atkinson’s player rotation by the end of the 2024-25 regular season. Recently, the Cavs signed free-agent center JT Thor to a two-way contract and also added free-agent small forward Emoni Bates, just before finalizing the deal with Travers on Wednesday.
