Breaking: Just In Another Top Talented Star Agree to 2-Way Contract Ahead of 2024-25 NBA Season

Forward Jacob Toppin has been re-signed by the New York Knicks to a two-way contract for the 2024–25 campaign, the team announced on Wednesday.

The younger brother of current Indiana Pacers player and former first-round pick Obi Toppin, Toppin played in 25 games for the Knicks’ G League club in Westchester last season in addition to nine games with the Knicks.

Toppin, a 6’8″ and 200-pound forward from Kentucky, was not selected in the 2023 NBA Draft and instead signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Knicks, which was later changed to a two-way contract in October. With the Westchester team, he averaged 19.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in the G League, displaying glimpses of his potential.

Against the Indiana Mad Ants, Toppin scored 23 points to lead the Westchester Knicks to the 2023 G League Showcase Cup Tournament Championship. In the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, he also took part and finished third.
The Knicks have assembled a team that will be a strong contender for an NBA title for many years to come after a spectacular offseason. With the addition of star Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets and the max contract extension for swingman OG Anunoby, New York now has one of the league’s greatest defensive wing tandems.

In addition, New York secured a contract deal for standout point guard Jalen Brunson, cementing his position as the team’s spokesperson following his two consecutive seasons leading the team to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Highly-touted point guard Tyler Kolek was acquired by the team in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2024 draft.

Toppin will be looking to gain more playing time as the Knicks attempt to contend for an NBA championship in 2024–2025.
