Breaking: Auburn Football Confirm As Landing Spot For Former Miami Hurricanes 5-Star Commit

Auburn football has gained significant attention from four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, who recently decommitted from Miami. Following his decision to part ways with the Hurricanes, Melendez has expressed strong interest in the Auburn Tigers, signaling a potential shift in his recruitment.

Auburn’s football program has been building momentum in recruiting, with their rankings surging since the highly anticipated Big Cat Weekend. The positive news continues to flow as the Tigers kicked off their season with a game against Alabama A&M at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Although the opponent was not a major challenge, the atmosphere in the stadium was electric, leaving a lasting impression on the recruits in attendance, including Melendez.

Melendez, who is from Osceola, Florida, had initially committed to Miami but chose to decommit just hours before Auburn’s season opener. He cited family reasons for his decision, expressing a desire to attend a college where he can focus on his ultimate goal of reaching the NFL. After spending the weekend at Auburn, Melendez now sees the Tigers as the leading contender in his recruitment.

“It was electric,” Melendez told On3, reflecting on his visit to Auburn. “I didn’t expect it to be that big of a game with the opponent that they were facing, but it was just very electric. Yeah, I would say that [Auburn leads]. I feel like they’re making me a priority.”

Auburn extended a scholarship offer to Melendez back in April, and he made an official visit to the campus over the summer. Ranked as the No. 17 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 23 overall recruit from Florida, Melendez is a highly sought-after prospect. While he has not set a timeline for his final decision, he is focused on finishing his senior season strong. However, all signs suggest that Melendez may ultimately choose to join the Tigers.
