Done Deal: Just In Texas Longhorns Win Another Commitment Of Top Talented 5-Star Over Alabama And Florida State

The Texas Longhorns have secured another major recruiting win by landing five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench. On Friday morning, Ffrench, who plays for Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, announced his commitment to Texas, choosing the Longhorns over other top programs like LSU, Tennessee, and Miami.

Ffrench is the third five-star recruit to commit to Texas in August, following safety Jonah Williams on August 24 and wide receiver Kaliq Lockett on August 7. His commitment adds significant strength to an already impressive 2025 recruiting class for Texas, making him the 19th overall commitment and the third-highest-rated prospect in the class, behind Williams and Lockett.

Speaking about his decision, Ffrench highlighted the family atmosphere at Texas as a key factor in his choice. He praised the Longhorns’ coaching staff, including Coach Chris Jackson, Coach Steve Sarkisian, and recruiting director Brandon Perry, for their consistent and supportive approach during his recruitment. According to Ffrench, the welcoming environment made Texas feel like home.

Ffrench is highly regarded in the recruiting world, currently ranked as a five-star prospect and the 23rd overall player in the nation. He is also ranked as the fifth-best wide receiver and the fourth-best player in Florida according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Known for his exceptional route-running, strong hands, and ability to make contested catches, Ffrench is considered one of the most talented receivers in high school football, regardless of class.

Last season, Ffrench was a standout performer for Mandarin High School, where he caught 62 passes for 1,247 yards, averaging 20.1 yards per catch, and scored 14 touchdowns as a junior. His sophomore season was equally impressive, with 44 receptions for 671 yards and five touchdowns.

Ffrench’s commitment to Texas pairs him with the physically gifted Lockett, creating what could become one of the nation’s top wide receiver duos in Austin. With Ffrench’s skillset complementing Lockett’s abilities, the Longhorns are poised to have a dynamic and formidable receiving corps in the coming years.
