Breaking: LSU Tigers Faced With Another Major Setback As Another Top Talented Star Suffer Season Ending Injury

LSU running back John Emery has suffered a torn ACL that will keep him out for the rest of his sixth season with the No. 18 Tigers, according to a source familiar with the situation. The injury, which happened during practice on Tuesday, has not yet been officially announced by LSU but was first reported by *The Advocate* of Baton Rouge.

Emery’s college career has been interrupted by injuries and academic issues. He was LSU’s most productive rusher in their season-opening 27-20 loss to Southern California, gaining 61 yards, including a 39-yard run in the third quarter. He also caught a 10-yard pass during the game.

Last season, Emery’s campaign was also cut short by an ACL tear after seven games. He briefly entered the transfer portal last offseason but chose to return to LSU. Initially joining LSU as a highly regarded freshman in 2019, Emery contributed four touchdowns to the Tigers’ undefeated national championship team.

He missed the entire 2021 season due to academic ineligibility. Throughout his career, Emery has appeared in 38 games, rushing for 1,123 yards and 14 touchdowns.

With Emery sidelined, LSU will rely on Kaleb Jackson and Josh Williams as their primary running backs. Freshman Caden Durham, who did not carry the ball against USC, may also see more action. LSU’s next game is scheduled for Saturday night at home against Nicholls State.
