Done Deal: Just In Seattle Seahawks Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced QB To Active Roster

The Seattle Seahawks have addressed their need for a third-string quarterback (QB3) for the 2024 season by signing former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall to their practice squad. While the role of a QB3 is somewhat unconventional in the NFL, it remains important as the player is often sidelined during games but can step in if the top two quarterbacks are injured. On Monday, reports emerged that Hall had joined Seattle in this role.

Hall, a 2023 fifth-round draft pick from BYU, played briefly for the Vikings. He started two games and appeared in three during his time in Minnesota. In his first start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, Hall completed five of six passes for 78 yards.

In Week 17, he threw just 10 passes in a 33-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Despite his limited opportunities, Hall showcased mobility, which helped him get drafted, as he’s able to evade pressure and make plays with his legs. At BYU, Hall started 24 games, completed 65.2% of his passes, and ran for 798 yards and nine touchdowns.

Seattle previously had PJ Walker as their QB3 during the preseason, but his underperformance led the Seahawks to move on from him. Now, Hall will need to quickly familiarize himself with the playbook while backing up Geno Smith and Sam Howell. Ideally, Hall won’t see much action, but he’ll be prepared to step in if needed.
