On Wednesday, the Seahawks added defensive end Kenneth Odumegwu and defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna to their practice squad.
A day earlier, Seattle cut defensive lineman Kyon Barrs and tackle Max Pircher from the practice squad. Now, those acquisitions have occurred. The Nigerian Odumegwu completes the practice squad’s international player berth, giving the Seahawks a total of 17 players. Italian-born Pircher was formerly a practice squad international for Seattle.
Odumegwu, who was sent to the Packers as a participant in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program (IPP), is a native of Anambra State, in southeast Nigeria. He spent the previous season on Green Bay’s practice squad. Before getting noticed by American football scouts, Odumegwu played basketball and soccer as a child. This led to an invitation to retired NFL defensive end Osi Umenyiora’s NFL Africa Touchdown Camp in Accra, Ghana in 2022. The 6-foot-6, 269-pound Odumegwu won defensive MVP awards there, which helped him get a spot at the NFL International Combine in London and eventually get him into the IPP.
The 6-foot-4, 327-pound Bohanna was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. Over the last three seasons, he has played for the Cowboys, Lions, and Titans. Playing under Aden Durde, the current defensive coordinator for Seattle, Bohanna appeared in 27 games with 10 starts during his two seasons with the Cowboys. Durde was the defensive line coach at the time. Bohanna divided his time between Detroit and Tennessee in six games last season, making three starts.
