The Philadelphia Eagles have elevated veteran offensive lineman Nick Gates and tight end E.J. Jenkins from the practice squad ahead of their Friday night game against the Green Bay Packers. This move adds depth to the Eagles’ roster for the game, particularly on the offensive line and at the tight end position.
Nick Gates, now in his seventh NFL season and first with the Eagles, brings valuable experience to the team. Initially signed by Philadelphia after Training Camp, Gates was released during the final roster cuts but remained with the team on the practice squad. Gates has extensive starting experience, having played in 57 regular-season games with 39 starts. He has lined up at nearly every position on the offensive line except for left tackle, with the majority of his starts coming at center. His versatility and veteran presence make him a useful addition to the Eagles’ active roster. Gates previously played for both the New York Giants and Washington Commanders before joining Philadelphia.
E.J. Jenkins, a promising tight end, also earned a promotion to the active roster. Jenkins showcased his receiving ability during the preseason, making a push for a spot on the 53-man roster but ultimately landing on the practice squad. At 6’6″ and 245 pounds, Jenkins provides an imposing presence and will be the third tight end behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. Jenkins has spent time with the Eagles’ practice squad in the past and is set to make his NFL debut in this game against the Packers.
The Eagles will be without cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, who is sidelined due to a hand injury, and linebacker Devin White, who is out with an ankle injury. The remaining inactive players will be announced just before the game. The additions of Gates and Jenkins are key roster moves that help bolster the team’s depth ahead of the primetime matchup.
