JUST IN: Heat Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

The Miami Heat and free agent Alec Burks have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, sources informed ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday.

The agreement was arranged with the Heat front office by Anthony Fields and Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, sources told ESPN. Burks signed with the Heat on Thursday, although the terms were not disclosed.

Burks, who was acquired by the New York Knicks from the Detroit Pistons in a trade deadline move the previous season to bolster their depth in the backcourt, finished the regular season with an average of 6.5 points in 13.5 minutes with New York.
But Burks got more playing time following OG Anunoby’s injury in the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Indiana Pacers, and he erupted for roughly 18 points on 51% shooting in five games of that series, proving his value as a prolific scorer off the bench.

Last season, Burks averaged 10.4 points per game while shooting 38% from three.

After being selected in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, Burks has played in 13 NBA seasons. Despite largely coming off the bench, 6-foot-6 shooting guard Burks has averaged at least 10 points per game since the 2019–20 campaign.

Burks, who turns 33 on July 20, recently inked a $30 million, three-year contract in 2021.
