A experienced forward was added by the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday through a Professional Tryout Offer (PTO). Tanner Pearson played for the Montreal Canadiens during the previous season, where he finished with five goals and eight assists in 54 games. The 32-year-old, who wants to play in the NHL longer, will compete for a spot in the Golden Knights roster. In the 2012 NHL Draft, Pearson was selected 30th overall in the first round.
Over the course of 11 seasons, Pearson has played for four NHL clubs (Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, and Montreal). In 2014, the Los Angeles Kings, the team that draughted him, won the Stanley Cup. In 644 career regular season games, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound left wing has 138 goals and 147 assists. In 51 postseason games, he has nine goals and 14 assists.
For the 2024–25 season, Pearson will face Vegas for a fourth-line position. With Montreal in the previous season, Pearson averaged 12:56 minutes of ice time and had a minus-12 rating at the end of the campaign. The Kitchener, Ontario native had to miss the most of the 2022–2023 season due to a hand injury that seemed minor but turned out to need six or seven surgery. Previous season, Pearson earned $3.25 million; on July 1, he became an unrestricted free agency.
