The Texas Rangers shut down right-hander Jon Gray and are likely to do the same with Tyler Mahle because of injuries.

With a right foot injury, Grey was placed on the injured list. Gerson Garabito, a right-hander, was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take Gray’s position. Garabito, 29, has made 10 appearances (2024), including one start, and is 0-1 with a 2.65 ERA, 13 strikeouts, and 8 walks. Hitters facing him are batting just.158.
