Sad News: Just In Alabama Cut With Another Huge Blow As Two Top Talented And Well Experienced Players Suffers Career Ending Injury.

Madison, Wisconsin After a run on the first possession of the game, Wisconsin starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke left the game against No. 4 Alabama on Saturday with a right knee/leg injury. Van Dyke, a transfer from Miami, appeared to buckle in his right knee as he scrambled for five yards along the Wisconsin sideline. The senior entered Wisconsin’s injury tent without bearing any weight on his leg and was carried, clearly distressed and with his head in his hands, to the locker room. After being declared out of the match, he made a comeback to the sidelines, this time wearing street clothes, crutches, and a brace on his right leg.

Following the Tide’s 42-10 victory, Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell was unable to provide an official statement regarding the extent of Van Dyke’s injuries. “We’ll get a little more clarity hopefully here soon, get an MRI and things like that,” Fickell stated. “I don’t think it looks real good for us, for him.” In the victory, Jalen Milroe completed three touchdown passes and added two more touchdown runs. Josh Cuevas, Ryan Williams, and Germie Bernard all caught touchdown passes. In addition, he ran 14 times for 75 yards.

Alabama (3-0) was playing its first true road game against a team from north of the Mason-Dixon Line since a 27-11 victory at Penn State in 2011. It also marked the Crimson Tide’s first trip to Camp Randall Stadium since a 15-0 loss to Wisconsin in 1928.

“There was a businesslike approach in the locker room,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said. “They had energy right from the start.”

After sustaining a rare right knee lesion against North Carolina in the previous season, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Van Dyke was able to play again for Miami. Due to injuries, the 2021 ACC Rookie of the Year missed portions of six games in Miami in 2022. In his first two starts at Wisconsin, Van Dyke threw for 406 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions with a completion percentage of 60.3%. Against Alabama, he completed his first five ball attempts for 16 yards. In lieu of the injured Van Dyke, Braedyn Locke completed 13 of 26 throw attempts for 125 yards and the game’s lone touchdown for Wisconsin.
