Breaking: Green Bay Packers Officially Cut Another Top Experienced Fans Favorite Superstar Following Injury

Jarveon Howard, an undrafted free agent who signed with the Green Bay Packers in May, has been waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Howard, who played college football at Alcorn State, had been competing for a backup role at running back during training camp. However, on August 20, he was waived by the Packers due to an undisclosed injury. The following day, he was placed on the team’s injured reserve list.

Howard’s time with the Packers was short, as injuries hampered his chances of securing a spot on the team. By accepting the injury settlement, Howard is no longer tied to Green Bay’s roster or injured reserve. This allows him the freedom to explore opportunities with other NFL teams once he has fully recovered from his injury. It is likely that Howard will target a spot on a practice squad, where he can continue to develop and work his way into a potential active roster position.

In his college career at Alcorn State, Howard showcased his abilities, which initially caught the attention of NFL scouts and led to his signing with the Packers. However, the transition to the professional level can be difficult, especially for undrafted players, and injuries can further complicate their path to success. Despite this setback, Howard’s journey is far from over, and he may still find a team willing to give him another opportunity once he’s healthy.

In the NFL, injury settlements allow players to be released from their teams while receiving compensation for their injury-related time off. For Howard, this means that while he is no longer part of the Packers organization, he can begin looking for his next opportunity in the league without waiting for the injury to fully heal on the Packers’ injured reserve. His next steps likely involve rehabilitation and seeking out practice squad offers from teams in need of additional depth at running back. If he can recover and impress in future workouts, there’s still a chance for Howard to carve out a role for himself in the NFL.
