Latest Packers News: More Bad News Green Bay Packers As Another Top Experienced Star Suffer Season Ending Injury

MarShawn Lloyd, a rookie third-round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers, will be sidelined until at least Week 6 due to an ankle sprain. Lloyd had already faced multiple setbacks, including missing significant time during training camp and the preseason because of hip and hamstring injuries. As a result, he was inactive during the Packers’ season opener against the Eagles. He eventually made his NFL debut in Week 2, during the Packers’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

In his debut, Lloyd played just 10 snaps and recorded limited stats. He carried the ball six times, managing only 15 yards, and added a reception that gained three yards. Unfortunately, during the game, Lloyd suffered an ankle sprain, further delaying his ability to contribute to the team. After being placed on injured reserve (IR), he will now miss at least the next four games, giving him extended time to recover from his injuries.

In response to Lloyd’s absence, the Packers made a roster move by promoting running back Chris Brooks from the practice squad. Brooks will join Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson in the Packers’ backfield rotation, providing depth as they navigate the coming weeks without Lloyd. This adjustment aims to maintain the team’s backfield stability while Lloyd recuperates from his injury.

Lloyd’s string of injuries has limited his potential early in the season, and the Packers will have to wait for him to get fully healthy before he can make a meaningful impact on the field. His early struggles with injuries are unfortunate for both him and the team, as his draft position indicated potential for a significant role in the offense. However, with at least four weeks on IR, the Packers hope he can return in better health later in the season and contribute to the team’s efforts down the stretch.
