Breaking: 5-Star Recruit Embarrassed Auburn With Grim Perspective After Honeypotting Six SEC Programs

Over the weekend, during his formal campus visit, Caleb Cunningham lost interest in Auburn. The Tigers’ ugly Saturday loss left the five-star wide receiver prospect unimpressed and he delivered a harsh critique of the program as it stands.

Though Hugh Freeze and his team will need to exert a great deal of persuasion to change his mind, they will not give up!

Cunningham ranks among the top-25 players overall and among the top-three players in the Class of 2025 at his position. From universities around the nation, including Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Texas, USC, and Oregon, he has received 26 offers. If he wanted to play college football, there isn’t a single program that would turn him down.

Nevertheless, following a disorganized recruitment process that saw him visit six different SEC schools, the Mississippi native committed to Alabama in July.

Cunningham is still being courted by a few colleges to leave Tuscaloosa, despite the fact that he appears to be set on the Crimson Tide at this time. Among them is Auburn.
Caleb Cunningham is wanted by Auburn.

In an attempt to flip Cunningham before the December Early Signing Period, Freeze, wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, and offensive coordinator Derrick Nix—one of the top recruiters in the country with strong ties to Magnolia State—are working together. They hosted him on campus this weekend.

Things did not go smoothly. The Arkansas Razorbacks scored ten points in the first half, and the Tigers were defeated by a score of 10.

Payton Thorne replaced starting quarterback Hank Brown on the bench after Brown was benched the previous weekend. With a completion percentage of only 57%, they combined for four interceptions and fewer than 300 yards of passing.
Cunningham expressed his displeasure with the performance quite clearly.
Even if it sounds awful, the highly sought-after receiver isn’t going to remove Auburn from his list just yet!
There are currently a number of issues in The Plains. The largest is the quarterback.
Freeze is also attempting to dislodge five-star signal-caller Deuce Knight from his Notre Dame pledge in an attempt to resolve the problem. Actually, at this moment, that switch seems inevitable, and Cunningham would be more willing to accompany him if and when that choice is formally announced.
For the Tigers, Saturday was about as bad as it got. To having Caleb Cunningham watch such a bad showing was/is less than ideal but it didn’t harm their chances. *wink wink*
