Five-star guard Simon Walker has committed to the Auburn Tigers, marking the team’s first recruit for the 2025 class. Walker, a 6-foot-5 combo guard from Huntsville, Alabama, is ranked No. 134 overall in the 2025 class and announced his decision live on 247Sports. He chose Auburn over two other finalists, Virginia Tech and Iowa.
Walker explained that his strong relationship with Auburn’s coaching staff, developed over the past few years, was a key factor in his decision. The proximity of the school to his home was also important, as it allows his parents to watch him play. “My parents are a big reason why I do the things I do, and having them able to come watch me means a lot,” Walker said. He also praised Auburn’s program, culture, and overall environment, describing it as “very intriguing.”
While Walker completed official visits to all three of his finalist schools, his experience at Auburn solidified his choice. He highlighted the energy, fanbase, and welcoming atmosphere on campus as key elements that stood out to him. “Everyone enjoys being down there and enjoys the people that are around. People don’t leave Auburn. They want to stay and build relationships,” Walker said. These aspects made Auburn feel like a place he could call home.
Walker is a valuable addition to Bruce Pearl’s 2025 recruiting class, bringing high basketball IQ, energy, and shooting ability. Known for his sharp shooting from deep, Walker is confident in his ability to contribute to the team’s success. “I’m just a guy that’s going to make winning plays,” Walker said. “I am going to be an amazing teammate. I am going to do whatever it takes for my team to win and continue that great culture they have going on.”
With his commitment, Auburn adds a versatile and talented guard who can make an impact both on and off the court. Walker’s decision is an exciting first step for the Tigers as they build their 2025 class.
