Britain Covey, a wide receiver and kick returner for the Philadelphia Eagles, has a broken scapula, or shoulder blade, and has been placed on injured reserve. Before being allowed to return, players must be on the IR for a minimum of four weeks. Reporters were informed about Covey’s injuries on Thursday, September 26. He will likely be out for six weeks.
This season, the former Utah wide receiver has made seven grabs for 34 yards and one punt return for nine yards. In the second-week loss to Atlanta, Covey had a career-high six catches for Philadelphia. The Eagles are 2-1 after three weeks and are tied for first place in the NFC East Division with the Washington Commanders. Following an exceptional high school tenure at Provo’s Timpview High School, Covey attended the University of Utah from 2015 until 2021. Covey had 132 receptions for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns in his Utah career. He had 35 carries for 201 yards on the ground. Covey returned the ball 84 times for 1,143 yards and two scores on punt and kick returns.
Following the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Timpview star signed a free-agent deal with the Eagles.
