Breaking: Florida Panthers Officially Released Another Top Experienced Superstar Due To…

Matt Luff has been released from his professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the Florida Panthers, as reported by George Richards from *Florida Hockey Now*. This decision was made on Monday, bringing an end to Luff’s PTO with the team.

Luff is now set to attend the training camp of the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, where he will be competing for a potential minor-league contract. His objective is to secure a place in the AHL after showing solid performance during the 2023-24 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. Last season, Luff demonstrated his scoring ability by contributing 10 goals and 8 assists over the course of 26 regular-season games.

Although Luff was unable to earn a roster spot with the Panthers through the PTO, his experience in the AHL gives him the opportunity to remain in the hunt for a professional contract. Luff has been a solid presence in minor-league hockey, showing the ability to contribute offensively at that level. His upcoming tryout with the Charlotte Checkers provides another chance for him to prove his value to teams in need of offensive depth at the AHL level.

Luff has some NHL experience as well. Throughout his career, he has bounced between the NHL and AHL, previously spending time with the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings organizations. Despite not being able to fully establish himself in the NHL, Luff remains a valuable player in the AHL and hopes to continue his professional career by securing a contract with Charlotte or another team.

As Luff continues his pursuit of a stable role in professional hockey, his ability to perform in training camp with the Charlotte Checkers will be critical. It’s another important step for the forward as he looks to maintain his place in the sport and potentially earn future opportunities, either in the AHL or with an NHL organization looking for depth.
