Latest NFL News: Green Bay Packers Three Green Bay Packers Players Suspended Following Loss To Vikings

The Green Bay Packers suffered a tough 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, dropping their record to 2-2. After falling behind 28-0 in the second quarter, the Packers made a strong comeback attempt but ultimately fell short. The game also marked the return of quarterback Jordan Love, who had been sidelined since week one due to an MCL injury.

Adding to their woes, the Packers may now be facing a suspension involving running back Josh Jacobs, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Jacobs was fined $45,020 by the NFL for lowering his helmet during a tackle in the game against Minnesota. This infraction could potentially lead to a suspension if Jacobs faces further discipline.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Jacobs had previously been warned by the league that future violations involving the use of his helmet could result in suspension. Smith added that while Jacobs often lowers his shoulder during contact with defenders, leading to occasional helmet-to-helmet contact, the play in question didn’t seem particularly severe and was not flagged during the game.

Jacobs plans to appeal the fine, as he has done successfully in the past. In 2023, he was fined twice for similar infractions, with one fine being reduced on appeal and the other rescinded entirely.

Despite the controversy, Jacobs has been performing well for the Packers this season. He ranks seventh in the league for both rushing yards (329) and carries (71). Jacobs joined the Packers after parting ways with the Raiders during the offseason, having left Las Vegas in free agency.

In summary, the Packers’ recent loss to the Vikings was compounded by the news of a potential suspension for Josh Jacobs, who was fined for a helmet violation. While Jacobs plans to challenge the fine, his performance on the field has been a bright spot for Green Bay, despite the team’s recent struggles.
