Huge Boost: Just In Auburn Tigers Football Land Another Commitment Of 5-Star Superstar

Four-star quarterback Deuce Knight has officially flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn, as he announced on Wednesday. This decision comes after weeks of speculation about Knight reconsidering his original pledge to Notre Dame, which he made in September 2023. A highly ranked player from Mississippi, Knight was a crucial piece of Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class. He is considered a Top 50 recruit by Rivals, On3, and 247 Sports.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna described Knight as “the most polarizing prospect in the class,” emphasizing that his talent goes beyond his position as a quarterback. Petagna highlighted Knight’s exceptional physical abilities, noting his 42-inch vertical jump and success as a state champion in track and field. With his brother playing at Indiana, Knight’s athleticism and potential seem boundless. Standing at 6’4″, he is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the 2025 class, with all the attributes NFL scouts look for in elite players.

Petagna added that Knight would rank in the top one percent of quarterbacks at an NFL scouting combine, but his growth as a passer remains a key question. Based on his performance at the Elite 11 finals, however, Knight has shown consistent improvement and is poised to develop further.

**Notre Dame’s Future at Quarterback**

Despite Knight’s departure, Notre Dame’s quarterback room remains strong. Riley Leonard currently leads the offense, and the Irish have secured four-star quarterback CJ Carr for the future. Carr, a key figure in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class, is expected to compete for the starting role next season.

Carr, a 6’3″, 210-pound quarterback from Saline, Michigan, has an impressive football pedigree as the grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. He chose Notre Dame over powerhouse programs like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Michigan. In his high school career, Carr completed 68.2 percent of his passes, throwing for 2,754 yards and 24 touchdowns last season. Over his entire career, he amassed 8,135 passing yards with 78 touchdowns.

Carr made his debut for Notre Dame in a brief appearance during their dominant 66-7 victory over Purdue in Week 3. Even with Knight flipping to Auburn, Notre Dame’s future at quarterback appears promising with Carr waiting in the wings.
