Breaking: Boston Bruins Officially Place Two Top Experienced Superstar On Waivers

The Boston Bruins have placed goalies  on waivers, indicating that Jeremy Swayman, who signed with the team on Sunday, might serve as the backup goaltender on Tuesday. Swayman’s recent signing puts him in position to support starter Joonas Korpisalo, despite Bussi’s strong performance in training camp.

Bussi, who impressed late in camp, appeared to be the frontrunner for the backup role after a solid showing on Saturday. However, Swayman’s return to the lineup has pushed him out of the NHL picture, leaving him vulnerable to waivers. Jiri Patera, claimed off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks late in training camp, practiced with the Bruins on Friday but didn’t appear in any preseason games, making him another candidate for waivers.

If both Bussi and Patera clear waivers, the Bruins will have a surplus of goaltenders at the AHL level with their Providence affiliate. The team already has several goaltenders on the roster, including Michael DiPietro, Ryan Bischel, Kasimir Kaskisuo, and Nolan Maier. The influx of goalies could create a logjam in Providence, complicating playing time distribution among the group.

The Bruins will need to make additional roster adjustments to get below the NHL’s 23-man roster limit. While Swayman seems poised to be the backup, the situation remains fluid as the team navigates these final roster decisions before the season begins.
