Escambia High School football standout Ladarian Clardy has committed to play for the University of Mississippi. The highly-touted 4-star defensive back announced his decision on Saturday, stating that Ole Miss provides everything he is looking for, including the right culture and coaching staff.
Clardy joins the Rebels, who are currently undefeated at 4-0 and ranked No. 6 in the nation under head coach Lane Kiffin. “It’s been a dream come true,” Clardy said. “I’ve worked for this all my life. Committing to an SEC school means so much to me. This is what my brother and I always dreamed of.”
The commitment holds special meaning for Clardy, whose older brother, Ladarius Clardy, was tragically killed in a shooting in Pensacola in July 2021 at the age of 18. Ladarius was also a promising football player with similar dreams.
Ladarian’s decision to commit came one day after what would have been his brother’s birthday. “This commitment was a tribute to him,” Clardy shared. “I just hope he’s proud of me. Everything I do is for him.”
Clardy’s decision marks another significant recruiting win for Ole Miss, as they continue to build their roster with top talent. For Clardy, the commitment not only fulfills a lifelong dream of playing in the SEC but also serves as a tribute to his late brother’s memory, motivating him to carry on their shared dreams.
