Sad News: Raiders Cut With Another Major Blow As Top Talented Fans Favorite Defensive Tackle Star Player Suffers Career Ending Injury.

For the foreseeable future, the standout defensive tackle for the Las Vegas Raiders will be out of the lineup. Following foot surgery for a Jones fracture, Christian Wilkins is sidelined indefinitely, according to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday. The Springfield native will be placed on injured reserve and there is no estimated time of return.

In Week 5’s 34-18 loss to the Denver Broncos, the 28-year-old played 22 snaps, tallied five tackles, and one sack before leaving with an injury. This season, Wilkins has racked up 17 tackles, two sacks, and six quarterback hits in five games.

Wilkins’ injury is merely the most recent problem to befall Las Vegas. Due to a hamstring injury, Davante Adams has missed the last two games and asked to be traded. Despite participating in Week 5, Maxx Crosby was limited on Friday after missing two days of practice. They’re also dealing with quarterback concerns between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell. This offseason, Wilkins, who played his first five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, inked a four-year, $110 million contract with the Raiders. Since 2020, Wilkins had not missed a single game.

Losing Wilkins is a big hit for a Raiders defense that’s 28th in points allowed. They now get ready to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
