Despite their narrow victory over the Cleveland Browns, who had only one win, the Philadelphia Eagles can still feel optimistic about their team because their quarterback was a major factor in the team’s victory in the first place.
In recent weeks, Jalen Hurts has received excessive criticism for his turnovers. Hurts leads the NFL in plays that should result in turnovers thus far this season, according to Pro Football Focus. However, that was not the case on Sunday. In the Eagles’ 20-16 victory over the Browns on Sunday, Hurts completed 16 of 25 passes for 264 yards and two touchdown passes. His performance demonstrated his accuracy and arm talent, as his QBR was an above-average 73.1.
For a quarterback who went 0–5 from the field to begin the game, not bad. Fans of Philadelphia may find fault with the way the club has appeared in the first five games. In actuality, they are making absurd expectations that never occur during an NFL game and pressuring the club to unattainable standards.
The reality is that the Eagles’ star quarterback has been fine to start the season. He’s completed over 67% of his passes while throwing for over 1,000 yards and six touchdown strikes. If he plays closer to how he did against a good Browns defense on Sunday, those numbers will only increase overall.
