Latest NFL News: More Good News For New York Jets As Another Top Experienced Star Turn Down Kansas city, 49er And Cowboys Officially Sign With Jets

**Jets and Agree to Reworked Contract**

The New York Jets and wide receiver Davante Adams have reached an agreement to restructure his contract following the team’s recent trade for the former All-Pro player, according to Ian Rapoport. The adjustment will lower Adams’ 2024 salary cap hit.

The restructuring reduces the Jets’ 2024 cap responsibility from the $11.6 million they initially took on. While exact terms haven’t been disclosed, any reduction in the cap hit this year is expected to be deferred to future seasons, unless Adams agrees to a pay cut.

Adams is set to count $35.6 million against the cap in 2025 and 2026, though none of that money is currently guaranteed. It’s likely that the Jets and Adams will work toward lowering those future cap numbers in exchange for some guaranteed money.

As Adams approaches his 32nd birthday in December, offering guarantees for future years could be risky for the Jets, but this seems to be the direction both parties are heading.
