Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis has addressed rumors surrounding a potential trade involving star defensive end Maxx Crosby, putting to rest any speculation. With the Raiders already trading their top offensive weapon, Davante Adams, to the New York Jets, and leaving tight end Brock Bowers as their main offensive playmaker, fans became concerned about the possibility of losing Crosby as well.
However, Davis made it clear that the rumors about trading Crosby were false. In a lighthearted manner, Davis joked about wanting to trade Crosby, saying, “Oh no, I want to trade Maxx today.” He quickly clarified, though, that the rumors are baseless, stating that all the speculation is coming from outside sources and is not rooted in any truth. Davis emphasized that there is no internal discussion about trading their defensive star, and it’s simply “not happening.”
Fans may have been nervous, especially given Crosby’s visible frustration with the team’s performance this season, which even led to an incident where he shoved an assistant coach on the sidelines. Crosby’s high level of play and status as one of the top defensive players in the NFL makes him a valuable asset, and some believe the team could receive a significant return if they were to trade him. However, Davis’s comments seem to indicate that trading Crosby is not part of the team’s plans.
While the Raiders are clearly in a period of transition, particularly after moving Adams, trading Crosby could set the team back even further. As one of the league’s premier defensive players, Crosby is an anchor for the Raiders’ defense. Trading him might provide valuable draft capital, but it would also leave a major hole in their roster that could take years to fill.
For now, it appears that the Raiders are more focused on rebuilding for the future, potentially aiming for a top draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. But despite the need to retool the roster, it’s clear that Maxx Crosby will remain a cornerstone of the Raiders’ defense moving forward.
