Dylan Cook, an offensive tackle, has been granted a 21-day window to return from injured reserve by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cook has been sidelined since the middle of August due to a foot lisfranc ailment. Cook was put on injured reserve just before the season began after sustaining the injury in the team’s second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Since Troy Fautanu’s dislocated kneecap ended his regular season, the Steelers only had three offensive tackles on their active roster: Dan Moore Jr., Broderick Jones, and Calvin Anderson. Cook would greatly benefit the Steelers in that area as he can play all offensive line positions save centre.
The Steelers signed Cook during OTAs in 2023 when he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cook impressed enough in training camp to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, but never got to play much throughout the season. With injuries mounting on the offensive line, getting anyone back, including Cook, is a boost for the Steelers’ depth.
Omar Khan has officially welcomed back Dylan Cook, the talented offensive tackle who is a fan favorite, after he has recovered from a significant season-ending injury. Cook’s return is a highly anticipated event for both the team and its supporters, as he has shown exceptional skill and potential in previous seasons. His absence due to injury has been felt, but now, with his recovery, the team is looking forward to his contributions on the field.
Khan expressed excitement about Cook’s comeback, highlighting the impact he has on the team’s dynamics and performance. Fans have eagerly awaited this moment, recognizing Cook’s importance not only as a player but also as a leader in the locker room. The coaching staff is optimistic that his experience and talent will bolster the team’s offensive line, which is crucial for both the running game and protecting the quarterback.
As Cook rejoins the squad, there is a palpable sense of enthusiasm among teammates and fans alike. The support he has received during his recovery journey reflects his status as a beloved figure within the organization. The team is now focused on integrating him back into gameplay, hoping to leverage his abilities to enhance their performance in the upcoming season.
