Done Deal :Matt Eberflus Officially Announced The Signing Of Former All-Pro Today

Chicago Bears defensive tackle  has been placed on the active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, according to the NFL’s transaction log on Wednesday. The nature of Kromah’s injury has not been disclosed.

Kromah joined the Bears after going undrafted in 2024. Despite not being selected in the NFL Draft, he had an impressive collegiate career at James Madison University, which earned him attention from NFL scouts. In his final season at James Madison in 2023, Kromah made a significant impact on defense, recording 31 tackles and an impressive 11 sacks. His ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks and stop the run made him a key part of the team’s defense during his college years.

The Bears’ decision to place Kromah on the PUP list means he will be unable to participate in team practices and games until he is medically cleared. Players on the active/PUP list can be activated at any time once they are deemed ready to return to action. This allows the team to retain Kromah on the roster while giving him time to recover from his undisclosed injury.

Kromah’s placement on the PUP list could delay his ability to compete for a spot on the Bears’ active roster during training camp and the preseason. As a rookie trying to make the leap from college to the professional level, every opportunity to practice and showcase his skills is crucial. However, if he can recover and return to form, his strong college performance suggests that he has the potential to contribute to the Bears’ defensive line.

Chicago’s defensive line depth could benefit from Kromah’s versatility, especially given his ability to generate pressure from the interior. The team will likely monitor his progress closely, hoping that he can recover and add to their defensive rotation once healthy.

For now, Kromah’s future with the Bears depends on his recovery timeline and how he performs once he returns to the field. While starting his NFL career on the PUP list is a setback, his collegiate track record shows he has the potential to overcome this obstacle and make an impact in the league. The Bears will be eager to see what Kromah can offer once he is cleared to play.
