The Indianapolis Colts made some adjustments to their practice squad, signing wide receiver and releasing linebacker Austin Ajiake.

Fernea, standing at 6 feet and weighing 195 pounds, has a history with the Colts, having participated in their 2024 offseason program and training camp. However, he was waived due to injury on August 14 and was placed on the Injured Reserve list the following day. On August 20, he was waived from the list with an injury settlement. Fernea has spent parts of the last two seasons (2022-23) on the Colts’ active roster and practice squad.

In 2023, he played in three games, and in 2022, as a rookie, he appeared in one game. Fernea originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in May 2022. His name is pronounced “FIR-knee-uh.”

Ajiake, who stands 6 feet 1 inch and weighs 223 pounds, has been on the Colts’ practice squad throughout the current season. He initially signed with Indianapolis’ practice squad on December 28, 2023. In his rookie year, Ajiake had stints on the practice squads of the Colts, Green Bay Packers, and Las Vegas Raiders. He also participated in training camp with the Denver Broncos after signing as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV on August 3, 2023. His last name is pronounced “AH-gee-kay.”

These roster changes reflect the Colts’ ongoing efforts to fine-tune their lineup as they navigate the season.
