Five-star defensive tackle, ESPN’s top uncommitted 2025 recruit, has committed to Georgia over Miami and USC, concluding a significant recruitment just seven weeks before the early signing period. Griffin, a standout from Savannah, Georgia, is ranked No. 5 overall in the ESPN 300 and leads his class as the No. 1 defensive tackle.
Initially, Griffin planned to announce his decision during the early signing period, but after a visit to Athens last weekend during Georgia’s victory over Mississippi State, he decided to join the Bulldogs. This makes Griffin the top recruit in Georgia’s 2025 class, which now boasts 16 ESPN 300 players, including nine from the top 100.
Griffin is a dominant presence at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, already known for his defensive prowess. He has been a force for Savannah Christian Prep, leading them to a state title game in 2023 with an impressive 69 career tackles for loss, including 33.5 sacks. Since receiving Georgia’s offer at age 13, Griffin has made frequent visits to Athens and built a strong bond with Bulldogs defensive line coach Tray Scott, which ultimately influenced his commitment.
Joining a top-tier 2025 defensive group, Griffin enhances a class featuring elite defenders like Zayden Walker (No. 16), Isaiah Gibson (No. 30), and Shamari Earls (No. 75). The commitment solidifies Georgia’s recruiting efforts, which are still targeting five-star Justus Terry and exploring potential flips of ESPN 300 recruits, including Eric Winters (Auburn commit) and Lagonza Hayward Jr. (Tennessee commit). As Georgia aims to maintain its top-three recruiting class streak, Griffin’s early pledge could set the stage for additional commitments in the coming weeks.
