The Las Vegas Raiders offense has struggled this season, largely due to poor quarterback performance. While the team plans to aggressively pursue a quarterback in the offseason, they’ll need strong offensive support to help that quarterback succeed.
With Davante Adams now traded, the Raiders’ wide receiver lineup lacks depth, making it a priority to find a top-tier receiver. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report suggests that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Chris Godwin could be an ideal fit.
Ballentine noted that while the Adams trade was sensible, it left a significant gap in the Raiders’ offense. A reliable veteran like Godwin could help bridge this gap for the new quarterback next season.
Godwin’s future in Tampa Bay remains uncertain, especially after his recent season-ending ankle injury. At 29 this offseason, he’s likely to seek a new contract. Before his injury, Godwin was on pace for an excellent season, with 576 receiving yards and five touchdowns over seven games. Despite his skill, teams might hesitate to offer him a large contract given his age and injury history.
For the Raiders, Godwin could be a valuable addition if the cost is reasonable. A veteran receiver with experience and ability to get open would support a young quarterback, and a deal close to $10 million per year could make sense for Las Vegas.
While Jakobi Meyers currently leads the Raiders’ receivers, the team needs more depth and a true No. 1 receiver. The Raiders could look to the 2025 NFL Draft to address both wide receiver and quarterback needs. If they retain draft capital, the Raiders may focus on offensive roles, including wide receiver, offensive line, and running back, to help turn the offense around.
