Head coach Paul Maurice has informed that the Florida Panthers will welcome back captain Aleksander Barkov tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Barkov’s injured return coincides with the NHL Global Series, which will take place in Finland on November 1 and 2. Now that the squad is 6-3-1 for the season, he will be a great help.
Barkov took full part in practice over the weekend after missing the previous eight games due to a lower-body injury that was thought to be a high ankle sprain he suffered on October 10 against the Ottawa Senators. The Panthers will be overjoyed to have him back, but they’ve managed games without him very well. A week after his injury, he started skating again, but Maurice stated that the Panthers wanted to take precautions and not hurry him back. He didn’t need to be hurried because they were playing so brilliantly. Together with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are 5-3-0, the Panthers are now dominating the Atlantic Division and doing fairly well.
Evan Rodrigues and Sam Reinhart will be Barkov’s wingers when he returns to the ice. Barkov’s arrival is anticipated to give Rodrigues, who has struggled early on with just three points and a -10 rating, a much-needed boost, while Reinhart has maintained his impressive play. With a +33 rating and 61 takeaways, Barkov led the Panthers forwards and made a major contribution throughout the playoffs. He is coming off a fantastic season.
