Done Deal: Just In Green Bay Packers Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced To Bolstered Squad

The Green Bay Packers added linebacker  to their practice squad on Tuesday. Davis, who was released by the Washington Commanders on October 22, brings valuable depth to Green Bay’s linebacker corps. In his five games with the Commanders this season, Davis saw limited time on defense but managed to contribute 13 tackles, with eight of those being solo efforts.

Originally a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Davis has yet to fully establish himself in the league, but the Packers view him as a potential asset who could be ready to step in if needed. His addition to the practice squad could be particularly timely, as starting outside linebacker Quay Walker is currently in the league’s concussion protocol. If Walker is unable to pass these protocols before Green Bay’s upcoming game against the Detroit Lions, the Packers could elevate Davis to the active roster to fill in.

Davis’ presence on the practice squad not only provides immediate insurance for the Packers at linebacker but also offers them flexibility as they navigate a stretch of the season where injuries and roster depth become crucial. Given his first-round draft pedigree and his experience with Washington, Davis could develop into a more prominent role if he can adjust to Green Bay’s system and make an impact on defense or special teams. This move by the Packers reflects their proactive approach to bolstering the roster, especially as they face tough divisional competition.

For Davis, joining Green Bay presents an opportunity to reset his NFL career and potentially earn a spot on the active roster. His past experience and draft status suggest he has the raw talent, and the Packers may look to refine his skills to better fit within their defensive schemes. If he performs well in practice, Davis could secure a more permanent role, especially if injuries or other roster needs arise.

Overall, Davis’ signing is a low-risk move for the Packers that adds depth at a key position and ensures they have options heading into a critical game against the Lions. As the season progresses, Green Bay will likely assess Davis’s potential contributions on a week-to-week basis, with the chance to elevate him from the practice squad as needed.
