Good News: Another Elite High-4-Star Officially Commits To Texas Longhorns

Texas basketball landed a major commitment for their 2025 recruiting class with Houston native John Clark, a high four-star power forward, choosing the Longhorns. On November 1, On3 reported Clark’s decision, made just ahead of the Early Signing Period on November 13. Clark selected Texas over strong offers from the Houston Cougars, Texas A&M Aggies, and Kansas Jayhawks.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Clark, ranked as the No. 35 player nationally in the 2025 class by On3, brings elite versatility and size to Texas’s frontcourt. He is also ranked as the No.8 power forward and No. 3 player in Texas.

Clark visited the Texas campus in September and had made a few unofficial trips in recent months. In an interview with 247Sports, Clark emphasized that the Texas coaches, the campus atmosphere, and being close to home were key factors in his decision. He expressed excitement about being part of the Texas community and appreciated the opportunity for his family to attend his games.

Clark, who previously played for Houston’s Klein Cain High before transferring to Missouri’s Link Academy, brings significant physical attributes to the Longhorns. His 7-foot wingspan aids his rebounding and shot-blocking abilities, allowing him to control the glass and defend the rim effectively. For a forward of his size, Clark is highly mobile, running the floor with ease and contributing on both ends of the court in transition. He also possesses solid ball-handling skills and a soft shooting touch around the basket, which enhances his offensive versatility.

Although Clark has shown promise as a scorer near the rim, he could improve his post moves and back-to-the-basket game to be more dominant in one-on-one situations. Defensively, he’s an effective rebounder and rim protector, using his wingspan and athleticism to challenge shots. However, he can further develop his off-ball defense and ability to close out on shooters when he’s drawn away from the paint.

With his athletic profile and two-way potential, Clark’s future at Texas under head coach Rodney Terry looks bright. His skills and versatility are expected to make him a valuable asset to the Longhorns’ lineup for years to come.
