Just before the NFL trade deadline, the Houston Texans traded defensive tackle to the San Francisco 49ers. In exchange, Houston will receive a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, as reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Davis hasn’t seen significant playing time for the Texans this season, recording 172 defensive snaps and 37 snaps on special teams. Despite his limited role in Houston, he is expected to add depth to the 49ers’ defensive line, which has faced some injuries and could use additional rotation options for the rest of the season.
A 28-year-old veteran, Davis is in his second year with the Texans and has had previous stints with several other NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Los Angeles Rams. His experience with various teams brings versatility to San Francisco, making him a flexible backup option for the 49ers as they push toward the playoffs.
This trade provides Houston with a future draft asset and allows them to shift resources while helping the 49ers bolster their defense.
