SEATTLE (AP) — In a deal with their cross-border rivals, the Vancouver Canucks, the Seattle Kraken acquired forward Daniel Sprong once more on Friday, giving future considerations back in exchange for the seasoned winger. Jessica Campbell, a trailblazing Kraken assistant: “I’m a part of something much bigger.” In nine games with Vancouver, 27-year-old Sprong averaged less than 12 minutes of ice time and only managed three points. Before playing for Detroit last season, he played for Seattle for the entirety of 2022–2023 and the conclusion of 2021–2022. In 76 games with Detroit the previous season, Sprong finished with 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists).
After dropping nine of their first 14 games, the Kraken are searching for an offensive spark. With the team making its first-ever appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Sprong had his greatest NHL season, achieving career highs with 21 goals and 46 points and matching his best assist total of 25. Since making his league debut in 2015, Sprong has also played for Pittsburgh, Anaheim, and Washington. In 366 games during the regular season and playoffs, he has scored 165 points.
