The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for a boost to their roster as they plan to activate two key players from injured reserve in Week 11, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz. Running back Isiah Pacheco, sidelined since Week 2 with a broken fibula, and defensive end Charles Omenihu, who tore his ACL during the Chiefs’ playoff run in January, are both nearing a return. Head coach Andy Reid discussed the potential return during his November 11 press conference, noting that while Pacheco, Omenihu, and JuJu Smith-Schuster are close to returning, he didn’t specify exact dates. Reid hinted that JuJu might be the closest to rejoining, though Pacheco and Omenihu are progressing well.
In Pacheco’s absence, veteran running back Kareem Hunt has carried the workload, especially since his signing with the Chiefs on September 17. Over six games, Hunt has rushed for 449 yards on 125 attempts, averaging 20.8 carries per game—a significant workload for a 29-year-old player who joined the team midseason.
While Hunt’s average sits at 3.6 yards per carry, he has proved reliable, with zero fumbles and familiarity with the Chiefs’ system. His efforts have contributed to Kansas City’s undefeated streak despite multiple offensive injuries.
The update on Pacheco and Omenihu has sparked excitement on social media platform X, previously Twitter. Fans expressed enthusiasm for the potential impact the players could have on the Chiefs’ push for a third straight Super Bowl title. One user remarked that a Pacheco-Hunt backfield could enhance the offense, while another pointed out that Omenihu’s return could significantly strengthen a pass rush that, beyond Chris Jones, struggles to dominate individual matchups. Others noted the team’s success despite its injury challenges, suggesting that the return of these players makes Kansas City even more formidable.
Daniel Harms from the Draft Network expressed surprise at the timing, expecting Omenihu’s activation closer to December. He noted that an early return allows Omenihu to ease back into shape before the playoffs. The news has Chiefs fans hoping both players could return by Sunday for a key matchup against the Bills, with many believing their return would significantly bolster the team on both sides of the ball.
