Breaking: Just In Detroit Lions Officially Announce The Signing Of Another Super Talented WR Star.

The Detroit Lions lost rookie wide receiver Isaiah Williams to the Cincinnati Bengals after they had to make some roster moves last week. Williams was cut and then claimed by the Bengals before Detroit could re-sign him to the practice squad. To make up for the loss, the Lions added a new receiver on Tuesday. Maurice Alexander is joining Detroit’s practice squad, according to Aaron Wilson.

Alexander has been on and off the Lions for the past two seasons, even making four game appearances for the team in 2022, primarily as the squad’s kick returner. In those games, he averaged a respectable 24.3 yards per return. Alexander was part of the Lions’ receiver competition this offseason, but he failed to make the 53-man roster and did not re-sign to the practice squad. Since then, he has not been signed by any other team, either.

The Lions said on Monday that linebacker Abraham Beauplan had been cut, among other roster changes. After Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Malcolm Rodriguez were ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Texans, Beauplan joined the active roster on Saturday, providing the Lions with an emergency linebacker option. Eleven special teams snaps were played by Beauplan. After missing the previous two games due to an ankle ailment, Rodriguez’s removal from the 53-man roster raises the possibility that he may be re-signed to Detroit’s practice squad. The Lions now have one slot available on the 53-man roster and two open spots on the practice squad. It’s important to note that Isaiah Thomas, who was released on Thursday, was released on Monday.

Regarding the final space on the 53-man roster, keep in mind that Detroit has a number of players on injured reserve who have already resumed practice and may be reinstated. Among them are safety Ifeatu Melifonwu, defensive tackle Brodric Martin, and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.
