Done Deal: Just In Texas Longhorns Win Another Commitment Of 5-Star Superstar To Boost Squad

The Texas Longhorns are set to host a high-profile visitor as they prepare for their final official visit weekend of the regular season. Five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, a current Oklahoma Sooners commit, will make his way to Austin this weekend as head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team faces the Kentucky Wildcats. The news broke on Tuesday morning and was soon confirmed by multiple outlets.

This visit marks Fasusi’s first trip back to the Forty Acres since he committed to Oklahoma in August. The 6’5″, 295-pound standout from Lewisville had initially chosen the Sooners over programs like Missouri, Texas, and Texas A&M. However, Oklahoma’s struggles this season may be opening the door for the Longhorns to make a push for the elite prospect.

Oklahoma has faced significant challenges this year, including injuries at wide receiver, inconsistent quarterback play, and poor offensive line performance. These issues contributed to the firing of co-offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh could also be on the hot seat. The Sooners are 5-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play, putting them at risk of missing a bowl game for the first time since 1998.

Amid these difficulties, cracks are beginning to show in Fasusi’s commitment. Ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle nationally by the 247Sports Composite, Fasusi remains in contact with Texas, keeping the Longhorns firmly in the race.

Texas, meanwhile, is looking to bolster its offensive line depth for the 2025 recruiting class. The Longhorns currently have commitments from five offensive linemen, but only one, Nick Brooks from Georgia, is a consensus four-star prospect. Offensive line coach Kyle Flood is preparing for significant turnover, with three or four starters potentially needing replacement.

Hosting Fasusi this weekend gives Texas a golden opportunity to strengthen its pitch to the highly coveted prospect. As Oklahoma’s season falters, the Longhorns appear poised to make a serious bid to flip Fasusi and add him to their promising recruiting class.
