Good News: Just In Seattle Seahawks Officially Add Another Top Veteran To Active Roster

Seahawks quarterback Jaren Hall, who was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday, will not be active for the team’s Week 13 game against the New York Jets. Despite the roster move, Hall remains sidelined due to a coach’s decision, as Seattle’s top two quarterbacks, Geno Smith and Sam Howell, are both healthy and available for the game.

Hall, a rookie signal-caller, has yet to see action during the 2023 season. His elevation to the active roster does not indicate a shift in the team’s depth chart but could be viewed as a gesture of recognition. According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the Seahawks’ decision to move Hall up for this week’s game may have been motivated by a desire to reward him for his efforts on the practice squad. Such moves are not uncommon in the NFL, where teams occasionally elevate players to allow them to earn a full game check, even if they are not expected to participate in the game.

For Seattle, the move underscores the importance of maintaining a strong practice squad, as these players contribute to the team’s preparation each week. Hall has likely been valuable in simulating opposing quarterbacks during practice sessions, which aids the Seahawks’ defense in game planning. While he remains a developmental player, the gesture highlights the team’s appreciation for his role and potential.

With Smith and Howell firmly established as Seattle’s primary options under center, Hall’s immediate role on the team remains limited to the practice squad and emergency situations. However, his elevation and the recognition it represents could signal that the Seahawks see potential in him for the future.

This inactive status for Week 13 does not diminish the significance of Hall’s elevation, as it offers him valuable exposure to the gameday environment and emphasizes the team’s support. For now, Hall continues to wait for his chance to make an impact during the regular season while contributing to the team’s success behind the scenes.
