Breaking: , 2026 Four-Star Quarterback, Decommits From Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s 2026 recruiting class suffered a major setback as four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone announced his decommitment. Falzone, who initially committed to the Hokies in the summer of 2024, has decided to reopen his recruitment.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, the Nazareth, Pennsylvania native is ranked as the 16th-best quarterback in the 2026 class by 247Sports. His decision comes amidst Virginia Tech’s struggles this season, as the Hokies hold a disappointing 5-6 record, falling short of preseason expectations.

Falzone addressed his decision in a statement released Wednesday evening, expressing gratitude for the support he received from the Virginia Tech coaching staff and community:

“From day one, my family and I were treated with love and respect by the entire staff at Virginia Tech. I am deeply thankful to Coach Pry, Coach Bowen, and everyone in the Hokie family who believed in me and supported my development. I’ll always have great respect and love for Blacksburg and the Hokies.”

He emphasized the importance of fully exploring his options, adding:

“Reflecting on discussions with my family, I felt it was necessary to make this change. It didn’t feel right to be visiting other schools while being locked in with Virginia Tech. I owe it to myself, my family, and the schools recruiting me to be fully invested in every opportunity I receive during this important time.

Reopening my recruitment, I am eager to embrace the next steps in this journey. I’m looking forward to working hard this offseason, not only to continue growing as a quarterback but also as a teammate and leader. This new chapter is an opportunity to grow, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”

While committed to Virginia Tech, Falzone continued to draw significant interest from major programs, including visits to Ohio State and Penn State. He is also scheduled to visit Iowa this weekend.

Falzone’s departure leaves Virginia Tech with no commitments in their 2026 recruiting class, giving the program a fresh start as they prepare to retool their recruiting efforts. His decision underscores the importance of on-field performance in retaining top talent, and the Hokies will now face the challenge of rebuilding their recruiting momentum moving forward.
