2025 RB Commits to Alabama Football, Flipping from Michigan State
As the early signing period approaches, Alabama football has added a key piece to its 2025 recruiting class with a notable flip.
Jace Clarizio, a three-star running back from East Lansing, Michigan, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday, flipping from Michigan State, where he had been pledged since May.
Clarizio received an offer from Alabama on November 7 and took an official visit during the Crimson Tide’s victory over Mercer on November 16. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Clarizio is the No. 493 overall prospect in the 2025 class and ranks as the 37th-best running back in the nation.
He becomes the fifth player in Alabama’s 2025 class to flip from another program, joining five-star quarterback Keelon Russell (formerly committed to SMU), four-star running back Akylin Dear (Ole Miss), four-star safety Ivan Taylor (Michigan), and four-star tight end Marshall Pritchett (North Carolina). Clarizio is also the first Michigan-based recruit to commit to Alabama since five-star defensive tackle Damon Payne Jr. in 2021.
What Clarizio Brings to Alabama Football
Clarizio adds depth and versatility to Alabama’s running back corps. At 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, the East Lansing High School standout showcased his talent during his junior season, rushing for 1,247 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns. He also demonstrated his receiving ability with two touchdown catches, gaining 88 yards on six receptions.
Joining forces with Akylin Dear, the No. 2-ranked running back in the 2025 class, Clarizio strengthens a class that aligns with Alabama’s tradition of recruiting multiple elite running backs each cycle.
Alabama’s running back room remains loaded with current contributors like Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams. Clarizio and Dear will join an already competitive lineup featuring Haynes and Young, who have one season before NFL eligibility, and Jam Miller, expected to stay for his senior year. Additionally, Alabama signed four-star running backs Kevin Riley and Daniel Hill in 2024, ensuring continued depth and competition at the position.
Clarizio’s commitment underscores Alabama’s relentless recruiting strategy as they build a well-rounded class heading into the 2025 season.
