Bills Rule Out for 49ers Matchup
The Buffalo Bills will once again be without rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman, who has been sidelined since Week 10 due to a wrist injury. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Coleman, listed as questionable earlier, has been downgraded to out for the third consecutive game.
“Sources: #Bills rookie WR Keon Coleman, who is questionable tonight with a wrist injury, will be OUT vs. the #49ers, missing his third straight game. Coleman has made significant progress, but the team will give him another week to fully recover,” Schultz noted.
Before sustaining the injury in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins, Coleman had been enjoying a strong rookie season. Over nine games, the former Florida State standout recorded 22 receptions for 417 yards and three touchdowns. His 10 receptions of over 20 yards remain a team-high despite his absence.
The Bills are also dealing with other injuries. Defensive tackle DeWayne Carter (wrist) and tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) have been ruled out, while linebacker Matt Milano, activated off injured reserve, is set to make his season debut.
Playoff Picture and 49ers Matchup
As the postseason approaches, the Bills are in a strong position to secure a playoff spot but face tough competition for seeding. The Kansas City Chiefs hold a firm grip on the AFC’s No. 1 seed, while the Bills, along with the Steelers, Texans, Ravens, and Chargers, boast playoff odds above 90%.
Heading into their game against the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo will have to contend with quarterback Brock Purdy, despite recent injury concerns. Cornerback Rasul Douglas emphasized the team’s focus on preparing for Purdy, believing he will play.
“I don’t think you ever look at it like, ‘Oh, he’s not playing,’” Douglas said, via Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. “We think that’s why he rested last week to play this week. That’s our mindset. If he doesn’t play, then we’ll just keep the same plan.”
The Bills will need a strong showing against the 49ers to maintain their push for a favorable playoff seed.
