Official Auburn News: Top Talented 5-star Reject Georgia And Texas Commits To Auburn Tigers Football

Auburn University has made a significant addition to its football program by securing a commitment from former Stanford quarterback Ashton Daniels. Daniels, who spent three seasons with the Cardinal, brings a wealth of experience and dual-threat capabilities to the Tigers’ offense.

During his tenure at Stanford, Daniels demonstrated versatility and leadership. In the 2024 season, he appeared in 11 games, starting 10 of them. He completed 170 of 271 pass attempts, achieving a 62.7% completion rate, for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. On the ground, he was a formidable threat, rushing 148 times for 669 yards and three touchdowns.

Over his collegiate career, Daniels accumulated impressive statistics, completing 366 of 602 passes (60.8%) for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. His rushing prowess was equally notable, with 1,117 yards and nine touchdowns on 282 carries.

Originally from Buford, Georgia, Daniels was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. His decision to transfer to Auburn reunites him with familiar faces and places him in a competitive environment within the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

At Auburn, Daniels joins a revamped quarterback room. With the departure of Payton Thorne and the transfer of backups Hank Brown, Holden Geriner, and Walker White, the Tigers have been actively seeking talent to fill the void. Daniels is expected to compete for the starting position alongside former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold, who also transferred to Auburn, and five-star signee Deuce Knight.

Daniels expressed enthusiasm about joining the Auburn community and working under head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff. He highlighted the culture and player-focused approach as significant factors in his decision. “What Coach Freeze and this staff is doing with this program is so special. The culture that they’re implementing from the top down is probably one of the biggest reasons I chose coming here,” Daniels stated.

Due to academic commitments, Daniels will graduate from Stanford before joining Auburn, which means he will arrive after spring practice. Despite this, he is eager to integrate into the team and contribute to the Tigers’ success. “I’m just so fired up to be a part of such a great community,” Daniels remarked, emphasizing his commitment to hard work and team improvement.

Auburn’s coaching staff shares in the excitement of adding Daniels to the roster. Their relationship-driven approach and focus on player development resonated with Daniels during the recruitment process. “They welcomed me in. I can just tell by being in meetings with them and just by being with them the whole visit that they care about me,” Daniels noted.

As the Tigers prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Ashton Daniels signifies a strategic move to enhance the team’s offensive capabilities. His dual-threat nature and experience are expected to bring a new dynamic to Auburn’s quarterback position, fostering healthy competition and elevating the team’s performance in the highly competitive SEC.

Auburn fans eagerly anticipate Daniels’ arrival and the potential impact he will have on the field. His commitment reflects Auburn’s dedication to building a robust and dynamic football program poised for success in the coming seasons.
