The Green Bay Packers’ decision to part ways with iconic quarterback Aaron Rodgers before the 2023 season has proven increasingly wise. With Jordan Love stepping into the starting role, the Packers have secured a playoff berth for the second consecutive year, signaling a successful transition under center.
Meanwhile, Rodgers’ future with the New York Jets remains uncertain as the 2024 season concludes. Addressing his potential return in 2025, Rodgers expressed skepticism about immediate discussions regarding his status, citing the need for organizational stability before any decisions can be made.
“There’s a GM that has to get hired, I would assume first, and then he’s going to be a part of hiring the head coach,” Rodgers stated. “So I have to be in the plans of multiple people, starting with the ownership, then the GM, and then the head coach. That’s why, to me, that would not be a conversation I’m expecting anytime soon until those things are in place.”
Rodgers’ comments underscore the uncertainties surrounding the Jets’ leadership and his role within the team’s future plans. Until the franchise establishes its front office and coaching structure, Rodgers is unlikely to commit to another season in New York.
