In recent years, the Ohio State football program has acquired a number of running backs through the transfer portal. They have had great success landing some solid backs by using the portal. And Chip Trayanum was one of those running backs. In 2022, Trayanum was acquired as a linebacker. He had played running back at Arizona State, but he was moving positions. However, the Buckeyes had to switch Trayanum back to running back towards the end of the season due to their high running back injury rate.
Following his move to Kentucky last year, Trayanum would play one more season for the Buckeyes. He was far less active with the Wildcats. After transferring for the third time in his career, Trayanum is now back in Ohio. A former football player from Ohio State moves to Toledo. Trayanum has chosen to transfer for the third time in his career after disliking his use at Kentucky. He’s back in Ohio this time around. He has made the decision to move to Toledo and will likely do well in the MAC as he completes his college career.
Toledo needs some help at the running back spot and Trayanum will have more opportunity there than he did with the Wildcats and even the Ohio State Buckeyes. This will be his sixth year of college, so this is his final run. He needs to make it count.
It’s strange to see him transfer for the third time, but that’s the world that we live in with college football now. The transfer portal has given players an enormous amount of freedom. Trayanum has benefitted greatly from the new transfer rules.
We wish him nothing but the best in what will be his final endeavor. He likely won’t have a future in the NFL.
