An impressive performance in the College Football Playoffs could boost Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard’s NFL Draft prospects. Most people predict that Howard will be selected on the third day of the 2025 NFL Draft. The signal-caller is probably going to start his NFL career as a backup. Howard had thrown for 3,171 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions going into the Rose Bowl. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound quarterback also added seven touchdowns on the run and 77 carries for 168 rushing yards.
The Senior Bowl is the first significant event in the pre-draft process, and Howard has already committed to competing in it. In an NFL mock draft on December 12, Justin Melo of the Draft Network projects that Howard will be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round with the No. 199 overall pick. Howard would be vying to support Trevor Lawrence, the top quarterback for the Jags. “The Jaguars are currently equipped with 10 selections,” said Melo. “That’s sufficient money to think about selecting a backup quarterback in the third day of the draft. Mac Jones may look for a better opportunity elsewhere as his contract is about to expire.Despite not living up to Ohio State’s high standards, Will Howard is a quarterback who can be selected in the draft.
Through the 2030 season, Lawrence’s five-year, $275 million deal will remain in effect. Howard’s performance against the Tennessee Volunteers was already impressive, and the best way to improve his draft ranking is to lead the Buckeyes to a deep run in the College Football Playoffs.
