Kitty Hawk whale update- A lot of people have asked what happens with the carcass and how it gets removed. Here is what I’ve learned after speaking with representatives from Jenettes Pier Aquarium MMSN.
The bones were removed from the whale and buried. When ready they will be exhumed and put back together by school students here on the OBX and then in display in Corolla at the visitors center. This is several years down the line.
