Following a three-game layoff due to an upper-body injury, Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha will play Tuesday night against the visiting Minnesota Wild.
After missing the previous four games, defenseman Charlie McAvoy (upper body) will be a game-time decision.
“Zacha (is) 100 percent,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said Tuesday. “We’re just waiting to see where McAvoy is after today.” He’s more than likely going to play, but I’m not going to declare he’ll play tonight until something changes.”
Zacha, 26, is likely to replace Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak on the No. 1 line, where he has eight goals and 19 points in 26 games.
“I wasn’t gone for that long, so hopefully it’s going to be good,” Zacha remarked with a laugh. “I believe we’ll find out today in the game.” I’ve only had one complete practice with the club, so I’m eager to get into the game and see how things go.”
If McAvoy returns, he will play on the top defensive pairing alongside Matt Grzelcyk. McAvoy, who turns 26 on Thursday, leads all Bruins defensemen with three goals and 17 points in 21 games this season.
